Welcome to ATSNE
At ATSNE we offer private lessons, workshops and presentations on the Alexander Technique to people from all backgrounds, young and old. We offer post-graduate study programs for teachers. We also offer an Alexander teacher-training program dedicated to training highly skilled teachers--professionals who are committed to teaching, lifelong learning and advancing the profession.
Founded in 1987 by Missy Vineyard, ATSNE’s teacher-training program provides a systematic, step-by-step approach to learning that lets students achieve a high level of use and hands-on skill. ATSNE’s comprehensive curriculum is designed to let students experience and integrate the principles and practice of the Alexander Technique into all aspects of their lives. The curriculum includes courses in musculo-skeletal anatomy, neurology, use and function of the voice, developmental movement and the mechanics of locomotion. Students also develop pedagogical, communication and business skills.
The 1600-hour, three-year course is approved by AmSAT. Graduates of the course receive certification from both ATSNE and AmSAT, and are eligible for membership in AmSAT. Graduates also become members of ATSNE’s professional networking teachers’ association, the Alexander Technique Connection.
Located in Amherst, Massachusetts, ATSNE is ideally situated to take advantage of the cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities of the beautiful Pioneer Valley and the "Five College Area." Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the school to attend class and meet with the Director to discuss their educational and professional goals.
